Potline Operation with Lithium-Modified Bath

Summary

A potline has been operated with lithium-modified bath for the last four years. All technical results have shown significant improvement including current efficiency (+2%), specific power consumption (−3.2%), and net carbon consumption (−1%). This paper describes the original test and effects on the bath, metal, alumina, anodes, and resistance.
