Abstract
Various classes of seventh- and eighth-graders in schools in Hessen have been observed during the treatment of ‘construction of triangles’. The principal aim of the empirical investigation, by which we try to represent a realistic picture of geometry in classroom, was to find out about the development of special abilities, mainly to solve problems in a systematic way.
It turned out that in most cases the potential of emproving problem solving abilities was not realized. The treatment was — in this respect — often superficial, and students constructed mainly by imitation. Only in some rare cases improvement of problem solving abilities could be observerd.
