Abstract

H ow can we assess the economic impact of individual patient care decisions, asks Dr Joseph Paladino from the Millard Fillmore Health System in New York, US. The economic methodologies and guidelines currently available are not designed to answer this question. Yet this information is what hospitals and third-party payers want to know. Attendees at the 30th Annual American Society of Health System Pharmacists Mid-year Clinical Meeting [ Las Vegas, US; Dec 1995 ] heard how Dr Paladino tackles this question at his institution.
