Abstract
T he governing bodies of nearly all the states in the US mandate that hospitals provide outcomes data. Employers are among the many groups that have shown an interest in these data. But what do they do with the information? And does it have a real impact on business? Furthermore, how have healthcare providers responded to being held more accountable for outcomes than ever before? These questions were addressed by speakers at the Zitter Group’s 3rd Annual Congress on Health Outcomes and Accountability [ San Francisco, US; November 1996 ].
