Abstract
T he low molecular weight heparin enoxaparin sodium remains more effective than unfractionated heparin up to a year after treatment in patients with unstable angina pectoris or non-Q wave myocardial infarction, according to new results from the ESSENCE study announced during the 47th Annual Scientific Sessions of the American College of Cardiology [ Atlanta, US; March 1998 ]. Meanwhile, a re-analysis of the original ESSENCE data highlighted marked variations in practice between countries even within the confines of a clinical trial.
