How do customers judge the quality of pharmacoeconomic studies?

Abstract

C hoice of comparator, timeliness, representative patient populations - these are just some of the criteria customers use to determine the quality of pharmacoeconomic studies, according to Dr Jean Paul Gagnon, director of Global Health Economics Policy for Hoechst Marion Roussel, Inc. in the US. Individuals involved in designing and conducting pharmacoeconomic analyses must have a clear understanding of both the customers’ needs and the criteria they use to determine study quality. Dr Gagnon discussed these points with delegates at the Zitter Group’s ‘Congress on Health Outcomes and Accountability’ [ Washington DC, US; December 1995 ].
