Abstract
Fuel cells for use as battery chargers have been available for leisure use for many years and have proven themselves in everyday applications. However, the suitability of fuel cells for industrial applications has been limited up to now. One supplier, the market leader SFC Energy AGAG, has succeeded in fulfilling the specifications demanded for industrial applications. The company's APU (Auxiliary Power Unit) is already being used in the fleets of initial customers. The company is working on improving the power output of future systems and on other solutions for electric vehicles: electricity and heat are to be utilised here in order to increase the range of electric vehicles.
