Abstract
The developers of a new lithium-ion battery for electric vehicles have their eyes on large-scale production. That is one of the reasons why Akasol opted for a modular design: The energy storage device has now been reduced to a device with a positive and a negative terminal, a data connector and cooling hose connectors. Instead of connecting „hundreds of cells“ mechanically, electrically and thermally within an overall system enclosure, the system designer can call on proven modules that have been pretested in the manufacturing process and which can be connected together into a system in just a few steps. Each module is liquid cooled. This saves space but was previously considered to be very expensive. Here too Akasol has simplified things with production in mind.
