Ten years of electronic key and ignition starter switches

Abstract

Within several case studies at the beginning of the 90's on vehicle networking architectures for a well known car manufacturer Marquardt had the chance to introduce the concept of the electronic key and electronic ignition starter switch. This concept revolutionised the complete authorisation system, replacing the mechanical key by the electronic integrated key with remote control and an electronic immobiliser system with a premium encryption code.
