Abstract
Emission requirements and the trend towards reduced fuel consumption will require special system and board net architectures in future. Recuperation, the storage of energy and the use of more electrically-consuming functions requires an intelligent system approach, following the trend to split into power- and energy by using the appropriate storage devices. This article discusses the reasons for the growing acceptance and presents the benefits of ultracapacitors for distributed power architectures and boardnet stabilization to overcome the problem of logic failures.
