Abstract

At the end of 2005 the first of 29 truck variants of the Constellation series of Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles rolled off the assembly line in Resende, Brazil. Despite all differences, they have in common an electrical and electronic system developed by IVM Automotive, featuring a logical unit specifically designed to enable the combined operation of the existing systems of different Volkswagen vehicle platforms and even components of other OEMs never linked with each other before — best conditions for the integration of numerous carryover parts and for meeting the tight budget.
