Abstract

The wall of the combustion chamber has a large influence on the engine combustion process injection, fuel vaporization, mixture formation, ignition, combustion and pollutant formation inside small bore DI diesel engines. This influence was investigated in a common research project by the Lehrstuhl für Technische Thermodynamik (LTT) and the Lehrstuhl Verbrennungsmotoren der Universität Dresden (LVD), by means of conventional, electronical, and optical measurement techniques by using both a transparent engine and a series production engine.
