Abstract
The regeneration of diesel particulate filters by raising the exhaust temperature by the engine management has some serious weak points. These do not apply, if the unburned hydrocarbons are not added to the exhaust via the engine, but are introduced directly in the exhaust line. This article explains the concept developed by ArvinMeritor Emissions Technologies GmbH for a reliable and cost efficient regeneration of diesel particulate filters.
