Abstract
The regeneration of diesel particulate filters over the entire map area is a great challenge for engine developers. Especially in applications where the particulate filter cannot be mounted under the bonnet for package reasons but only in an underfloor position, the high temperatures needed for filter regeneration can only be reached with major efforts. The concept study presented in this article was carried out by IAV GmbH and shows the potential of external post-injection for realising reliable filter regeneration, even under these adverse installation conditions.
