Engine cooling and the Euro 5 standard for diesel cars

Abstract

To reach the Euro 5 limits, controlling the intake air temperature becomes increasingly important. Behr has developed a concept that allows increasing and decreasing the intake air temperature and therefore the combustion temperature. Amongst other advantages, this temperature management reduces the formation of NO_X, HC and CO emißions, supports the conversion of pollutants by the aftertreatment and regeneration of the particle filter.
