Abstract
In an intensive development partnership, Voith Turbo GmbH & Co. KG and MAN Nutzfahrzeuge AG (Commercial Vehicles Corporation) succeeded in develop the world’s first water retarder ready for serial production. The Voith Aquatarder needs one single medium only, the cooling water of the vehicle to convert the hydrodynamic energy and to dissipate the energy at the same time. This article describes innovation and its technical challenges, within the system of the heavy commercial vehicles of the MAN TGA class.
