Zum Ätzen von Conodonten aus Kalken wird an Stelle der chemisch schlecht geeigneten Essigsäure deren Monochlor-Derivat empfohlen. Als Vorteil werden größere Aktivität, Zeit- und Materialersparnis angeführt.
