Der Werkstoff Aluminium trägt entscheidend zur Gewichtseinsparung bei neuen Automodellen bei. Nachdem sich Aluminium in Antrieb und Fahrwerk millionenfach bewährt hat, gilt nun vor allem der Karosseriebau als wichtiger Wachstumsmarkt der Aluminiumindustrie. Neue Legierungsentwicklungen für Außenhautanwendungen werden die Substitution des Werkstoffes Stahl beschleunigen.
