Conclusion
The general philosophy of Materials Science and Engineering for the 1990s is best summarized by the sponsoring committee in the passage: “The broad conclusions of this study are that the field of materials science and engineering encompasses all materials classes; that it spans the full spectrum from basic science to engineering; and that its relation to industrial and other societal needs is strong. The field derives great strength from its relationship to these various entities.”
And, if you’ll forgive the editorializing, we derive immeasurable strength from it.
