The lore and lure of Rhine gold

Abstract

Gold in its varions forms, natural and otherwise, has been in the service of mankind since the dawn of humanity. The lure of gold lies at the root of many myths and legends that have arisen throughout the ages. This article contrasts the Rhine gold legend with the realities of winning alluvial gold from the river.
