Nuclear structure at extreme isospin

  • Published:
Il Nuovo Cimento A (1971-1996)

Summary

Exotic nuclei far off ß-stability and asymmetric nuclear matter are investigated using nuclear many-body theory. Ground and excited states of dripline nuclei are described by HFB and QRPA theory, respectively. The structure of single nucleon halo nuclei is found to be mainly determined by dynamical core polarization. Applications to recent data on longitudinal momentum distributions from breakup reactions are discussed. Results on neutron skins in medium and heavy exotic nuclei are presented.
