On the hydrodynamics of visco-elastic fluids

  • Published:
Applied Scientific Research, Section A Aims and scope Submit manuscript

Summary

The hydrodynamical equations of motion for a visco-elastic fluid are established. The exact solution for periodic laminar flow in a cylindrical tube and an approximate solution for flow in a film of variable thickness are given. The importance of the elasticity number N=τν/R2, determining the ratio of elastic to inertia forces, is pointed out.
