On two-dimensional surface waves on a time dependent boundary

  • Published:
Applied Scientific Research, Section A Aims and scope Submit manuscript

Summary

Using the linear theory of the motion of ideal fluids a problem is investigated in which the free surface of a horizontal layer is varied by moving fluid through the lower boundary. The solution given is confined to the initial stage of a disturbance and the singular behaviour of the velocity distribution is discussed.
