Applied Scientific Research, Section A Aims and scope Submit manuscript

Summary

The application of Hausen’s theory for the temperatures and efficiency of regenerators involves very laborious computations. In this article it is shown that for some limiting cases more simple formulae can be found with the aid of a perturbation theory. The formulae are series expansions for the fluctuating temperatures and the efficiency in terms of the reduced surfaceΛ and the reduced heat capacityΓ of the regenerator for the case ofΓ » 1 and for the case ofΛ « 1, for balanced load conditions.
