Infinite elastic plane with a parabolic arc cut

  • Published:
Applied Scientific Research, Section A Aims and scope Submit manuscript

Summary

The two-dimensional boundary value problem of an infinite clastic plane containing a parabolic arc cut and subjected to uniform stresses at infinity is considered. The problem is reduced to the standard Hilbert problem and the general solution is obtained in the closed form. The displacements on the cut are plotted against the arc length for a stress-free cut subjected to a uniform tension at 45° to the real axis.
