Indentation of a firmo-viscous material by a hard rolling cylinder

  • Published:
Applied Scientific Research, Section A Aims and scope Submit manuscript

Summary

The rolling friction of a hard cylinder over an ideal firmo-viscous material, represented by the Kelvin model, is discussed in terms of the bulk properties of the material, and a solution is presented for the linear case of such a material for a single retardation time. Special consideration is given to discussion of all values of retardation time, and the results are in general consistent with almost all types of viscoelastic materials.
