Kurzfassung
Eine wesentliche Facette der ökonomischen Restrukturierung von Weltstädten ist die Diversifizierung ihrer Arbeitsmärkte. Die durch die großen Einkommensunterschiede induzierte soziale Polarisierung spiegelt sich gegenwärtig in einer deutlich wahrnehmbaren kleinräumigen Segregation vor allem in innenstadtnahen Wohngebieten wider. Das Ziel dieses Beitrages ist es, am Beispiel Londons eine Methode vorzustellen, die es erlaubt, die soziale Segregation in Stadtteilen zu messen. Die Analyse stützt sich auf die Zensusdaten von 2001.
Abstract
The economic restructuring of global cities is reflected by the polarisation of their labour markets. The huge differences of salaries result in social polarisation and in a noticeable segregation of quarters particularly within inner city residential areas. The goal of this paper is to present a formula that measures and quantifies the degree of social segregation within quarters. The analysis is based on the 2001 census data.
