David A. Ward and Gene G. Kassebaum are research sociologists in the School of Public Health, University of California at Los Angeles. They are currently engaged in conducting an experiment in group counseling as a treatment program for male prisoners in California. They are co-authors of the monograph,Group Treatment by Correctional Personnel. This article derives from a larger manuscript dealing with the female prison community.
