Distribution of hermatypic corals and crustal movement

Abstract

Comprehensive study of hermatypic corals throughout geological time indicates that they commonly occurred in the northern hemisphere during the Paleozoic and that they migrated regularly and gradually southward. The distribution of Tabulata, in particular, is related to paleolatitude (Wang Baoyu 1994). This paper discusses the relationship between crustal movement and the distribution of hermatypic corals.
