Abstract

Powder injection moulding (PIM) is a modern process for producing complex-shaped components from various sinterable materials. The PIM process unifies the design flexibility of plastic injection moulding and the material choice of powder metallurgy to produce net-shape metal, ceramic or hard material parts. Using examples of products and materials, the various fields of application of PIM are shown and the newest trends in micro PIM are presented.
