Summary

In a retrospektive study of 100 operations out of 11 years the buckling procedure in combination with cryotherapy and drainage turned out to be an adequate therapy of a success rate of 87% anatomical reattachment.

A new hypothesis for the development of retinal detachment due to senile retinoschisis is discussed.
