Abstract
The momentum spectrum of protons produced in πN interactions at 17,2 GeV/c was investigated in nuclear emulsion. The results support the earlier observations concerning the existence of the double maximum in the proton momentum spectrum as well as the difference in its shapes for πp and πn interactions. An attempt was made to explain the two-maximum structure of the spectrum on the basis of the multi Regge model taking into account the effect of the superposition of “pure” inelastic reaction channels.
