Zusammenfassung

Die Telekommunikationswirtschaft ist weltweit durch drei Rahmenbedingungen geprägt:

  1. (1)

    die Nachfrage des Markts nach neuen Dienstleistungen,

  2. (2)

    die politisch stimulierte Liberalisierung des Telekommunikationsmarkts und

  3. (3)

    die technischen Möglichkeiten neuer Telekommunikationstechnologien.

Die Netzbetreiber stehen vor der Aufgabe, mit limitierten Investitionsmöglichkeiten in möglichst kurzer Zeit hohe Renditen erwirtschaften zu müssen. Damit gewinnt vor allem das Zugangsnetz und die damit verbundenen Technologien eine wesentliche Bedeutung für den Geschäftserfolg eines Netzbetriebers in einem liberalisierten Telekommarkt.

Dieser Artikel beschreibt nach einer Zusammenfassung der wichtigsten Aspekte, die ein Zugangsnetz auszeichnen, die Positionierung eines Zugangsnetzes in einem Telekommunikationssystem und die wichtigsten technologischen Entwicklungen in diesem Bereich: Einsatz der Glasfaser im Zugangsbereich, FITL-Systeme, Multimediaübertragung über die Kupferdoppelader durch xDSL-Technologien und über CATV-Netze durch HFC-Technologien.

Abstract

World-wide, telecommunication is marked by three basic conditions:

  1. (1)

    the market demand of new services;

  2. (2)

    the politically stimulated liberalization of the telecommunication market and

  3. (3)

    the technical possibilities of new telecommunication technologies.

Network operators are confronted with the task to yield high interests within a short time with limited investment possibilities. Therefore, the access network and the technologies linked to it have an increasing importance for the economic success on a liberalized telecom market.

This article describes the most distinguishing aspects of an access network, its positioning within a telecom system, and the most important technological developments in this field: use of fibres in the access area, FITL systems, multimedia transfer via the copper twisted pair by means of xDSL technologies and via CATV networks by means of HFC technologies.
