Abstract

The title of this paper is a contradiction of concepts: Holism implies the whole while eigen implies one part. Holistic means complex, eigensolution means precise. But by analyzing a whole system, one can observe characteristic behaviors of systems through their respective eigenmodes, including the boundary conditions2. We have applied the analytic technique for complex physical systems to the analysis of complex business systems. Other authors (e.g., Porter, 1980 and Penzias, 1995) have come close to such an analysis without stating their results as eignesolutions.
