Abstract
The actual intensity of nuclear events and the statistical fluctuation of this value have been determined by means of the Maximum Likelihood Method from the number of events found in emulsion plates scannedl times. At the same time investigations were made on scanning efficiency to solve the problem whether, in order to reduce statistical errors, it is better to scan a small surface several times or a larger one less often.
