The relation between Löwdin’s spin projection operator and Pratt’s spin operator

Abstract

Löwdin has given a spin projection operator, which selects a state of multiplicity (2l+ 1) when operating on a Slater determinant.Pratt has also derived an operator, which creates a state of definite multiplicity, when operating on a Slater determinant. It was verified that for constructing singlets, except for a constant factor, the two operators are identical.

Спиновым проекционным оператором, введенным Лэдвиным, в применении к детерминанту Слетера отбирается мультиплетное состояние (2l+1). Выведенный Праттом спиновый оператор в применении к детерминанту Слэтера также даёт состояние определённой мультиплетности. Установлено, что в отношении сингулетных состояний операторы Лэдвина и Пратта до константы совпадают.
