Abstract
In this paper the most general spherically symmetric metric, recently defined bySynge in Kruskal coordinates, is considered and Einstein—Maxwell equations are imposed which culminates in a prescription for building the most general solutions. The Reissner — Nordström solution is shown to be a special case.
