De prevalentie van hartfalen in verpleeghuizen: een systematisch literatuuronderzoek

Samenvatting

Hartfalen is vooral een ziekte van de oudere mens en in de westerse wereld dus een toenemend klinisch probleem.1Verwacht wordt dat de prevalentie en incidentie van hartfalen in de toekomst zullen toenemen en dan hoofdzakelijk als gevolg van de afgenomen mortaliteit bij coronairlijden en CVA. Voor de westerse landen geldt, dat de prevalentie van hartfalen in de algemene bevolking ouder dan 65 jaar varieert van 3-13%.2
