Abstract

A 16-year-old girl presented to the emergency room with a painful shoulder after a sports accident. Seven months after the first presentation, a correct diagnoses was made. A medial epiphyseal clavicle fracture is an uncommon injury; it is easily confused with a dislocation of the sternoclavicular joint. Posterior displacement can cause serious complications, for which a closed or open reduction is indicated. In other cases conservative treatment will often lead to an acceptable result.
