Samenvatting

Bij de vrouwelijke seksuele respons spelen biologische en omgevingsfactoren een rol. De vrouwelijke seksualiteit is een samenspel van hormonale, vasculaire en nerveuze factoren met relationele, familiale en sociaal-culturele invloeden. Vrouwelijke seksuele disfuncties zijn multifactorieel en nemen in het algemeen toe met de leeftijd. In deze bijdrage worden dyspareunie, vaginisme en niet-coïtale pijn bij seksueel contact behandeld. Met beeldvormende technieken is aangetoond dat seksuele pijn en genot een continuüm vormen.
