Samenvatting
Er zijn méér oorzaken van toegenomen vaginale afscheiding dan de algemeen bekende bacteriële vaginose en Candida-infectie. Vooral wanneer na een eerste behandeling de klacht terugkeert, moet de huisarts een specifiekere diagnose overwegen, zoals aerobe vaginitis of cytolytische vaginose. Gezien de toenemende incidentie moet men in een dergelijk geval ook onderzoek doen naar gonorroe en Chlamydia. Hoekstenen van de aanpak zijn nog steeds een zorgvuldige anamnese en lichamelijk onderzoek, pH-bepaling en rechtstreeks microscopisch onderzoek.
