Samenvatting

De beschikbaarheid van betrouwbare en gemakkelijk toepasbare anticonceptie sinds het eind van de jaren zestig is een belangrijke voorwaarde geweest voor de emancipatie van de vrouw.1,2 Voor het eerst in de geschiedenis van de mensheid was zij niet meer overgeleverd aan het tot die tijd bijna onvermijdelijke moederschap. Haar voortplantingsgedrag veranderde radicaal en haar zelfstandigheid, vrijheid en macht zijn sinds die tijd enorm toegenomen.
