Bijwerkingen van dermatocorticosteroïden

Samenvatting

Dermatocorticosteroïden zijn door hun anti-inflammatoire en antiproliferatieve eigenschappen effectief in de behandeling van een groot aantal huidaandoeningen. Bij langdurige toepassing kunnen lokale bijwerkingen optreden zoals atrofie en dermatitis perioralis. Bij het gebruik van (te) grote hoeveelheden kan percutane resorptie van de corticosteroïden aanleiding geven tot systemische bijwerkingen zoals een iatrogeen cushingsyndroom, en bij kinderen tot groeiremming. Door enkele basisregels – die hier besproken worden – in acht te nemen kunnen ernstige bijwerkingen van deze zeer waardevolle geneesmiddelen nagenoeg altijd worden voorkomen.
