Samenvatting

Antibiotica zijn effectief bij de exacerbaties van COPD die gepaard gaan met een toename van de dyspnoe en het opgeven van purulent sputum. De antibiotische therapie is in dat geval gericht op een acuut gebeuren (de exacerbatie) bij een chronische aandoening (COPD). De vraag rijst hoe lang zo’n antibioticumkuur moet worden volgehouden: vijf dagen, of langer dan vijf dagen? Mousaoui et al.
