Het succes van een behandeling voor chronische pijn hangt samen met de oorspronkelijke verwachtingen van de patiënt en de geloofwaardigheid van de behandeling voor de patiënt. Uit het oogpunt van kwaliteitsverbetering en kosteneffectiviteit lijkt het daarom zinnig deze cognities tevoren te exploreren.
