Samenvatting

Dokters moeten goed doen. En als ze niet zeker weten of dat het geval is, moeten ze abstineren (in dubio abstine), maar het allerbelangrijkste is toch om niet te schaden (primum non nocere). Daarmee zijn in het verleden weleens fouten gemaakt (DES-dochters, softenondrama). Die fouten waren geen opzet en daarin zit nu net het probleem: het gaat om het zeker weten. Hoe weten we iets zeker?
