Bellse parese: vóórkomen en behandeling in de huisartsenpraktijk

Samenvatting

Een perifere facialisparese is een, al dan niet volledige, eenzijdige uitval van de aangezichtsmusculatuur. In ongeveer twee derde van de gevallen is de oorzaak onduidelijk. Men spreekt dan van een Bellse parese. Het beloop van deze aandoening is meestal goed: 70% van de patiënten herstelt volledig. De prognose is minder gunstig bij een hoge leeftijd of een totale verlamming.
