Samenvatting

Achtergrond De relatie tussen het serum-cholesterolgehalte en het optreden van coronaire aandoeningen is onomstreden, net als het gunstige effect van statines op de vermindering van de kans op hartziekten en het CVA na een myocardinfarct. De relatie tussen het cholesterolgehalte en de kans op een recidief CVA is echter niet zo duidelijk. Net zo min is het zeker of het gebruik van een statine na een CVA een recidief zou kunnen voorkomen.
