Samenvatting

De grote ‘statine-trials’ uit de jaren 1995-1998 hebben een omwenteling veroorzaakt in de mogelijkheden voor preventie van hart- en vaatziekten. Zowel bij de medische professie als bij de gezondheidsautoriteiten ontstond al snel behoefte aan richtlijnen voor de toepassing van statines in de praktijk. De medici kwamen daarmee het eerst.
