Samenvatting

In de NHG-standaard Prikkelbare Darm Syndroom (H&W 2001, nr. 2) staat onder het hoofdje ‘Medicamenteuze behandeling’ dat van geen enkel medicament de effectiviteit voldoende is aangetoond. Wel melden we een nieuwe ontwikkeling: de 5-HT3-antagonisten. Alosetron, tot nu toe alleen in de VS op de markt, wordt genoemd als een van deze middelen.1
